The FINANCIAL — Recently, the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) Human Security Team from Field Office Zugdidi in Georgia hosted its 65th Information Sharing Meeting (ISM).
This meeting coincided with the 19,000th patrol conducted by this field office in accordance with the Mission mandate, comprising of stabilisation, normalisation, and confidence building in the region, as well as informing EU policy makers about the situation.
The 65th ISM gathered 26 representatives from local and international organisations working in Georgia, and presented them with information on the EUMM field office’s activities and findings. Afterwards, the Deputy Team Leader of the Human Security Team, Mikkel Mitchell Valnert, gave the floor to the participants who provided important and useful updates on their own organisations and activities since the last meeting in February 2018.
The next Zugdidi ISM is scheduled to take place on 16 May 2018, according to the EU Neighbours portal.
The EUMM in Georgia was deployed in September 2008 following the EU-brokered Six-Point Agreement that ended the August war between Russia and Georgia. It contributes to stabilisation, normalisation and confidence building between the conflict parties. The mission provides civilian monitoring of parties’ actions, including full compliance with the Six-Point Agreement and subsequent implementing measures throughout Georgia. It also informs European policy in support of a durable political solution for Georgia.
