EU supports Georgia to improve its tax administration system

The FINANCIAL -- An EU-funded Twinning project in Georgia, with a total budget of €1.3 million, has come to an end, having brought together officials from Georgian government, EU Member States and the EU Delegation.

The 18-month project aimed to develop an efficient and effective tax administration system in harmony with the economic and financial interests and activities of businesses and citizens of Georgia, according to EU Neighbourhood Info.

In particular, the project was focused on the protection of the state’s and taxpayers’ interests, detection of non-compliance, simplification of administrative procedures, and other related activities.

During the closing conference, experts from the Austrian Ministry of Finance and Georgian Revenue Service presented the main results of the project.

Twinning is an EU initiative, which brings together public sector expertise from   EU Member States and beneficiary countries with the aim of enhancing   co-operative activities.
